Magic Bullet #6 Thank You Card

Here is the thank you card we organized and mailed to our advertisers and others who helped us print and distribute Magic Bullet #6. I wanted several people to contribute art and come together in an organic way for the card. The process included making small paper strips with the artist names pulled from a hat in order of the characters in the words 'Thank You!' The artists could make their assigned letter in any medium or style in a clever way as long as it is legible.

The card came out great printed on glossy paper. For the inside, we collected digital signatures and most of the contributors were able to be a part of the project with their John Hancock. This is the first time we've sent out thank you cards. It's a good way to connect with the people and organizations who made our project happen.

We are currently accepting comic submissions and advertisers for Magic Bullet #7. This issue will be Halloween/Spooky/ Fall themed with August 1, 2013 as the deadline. For more information, please visit: http://magicbulletcomics.blogspot.com

Commissioned Illustration for Child's Playroom

I was asked by a family to illustrate a young girl named Sophia playing with her dog, Bully, for a wall graphic in Sophia's playroom.

Here is a process sketch. I was able to work from photos of the girl and the dog.

And here is the final 46" x 72" graphic. Currently, the walls of the playroom are lime green.

I really like the illustration with a sky blue background and provided the client with that option as well. I told her we could also use the image for birthday parties or greeting cards.

Here is the illustration the client cut and designed to fit a goodie bag for Sophia's birthday party. I would love to design more custom wall graphics or party items!

Client Feedback
I loooooove it! It's great!!!

Holiday Greeting Card Illustration

A former co-worker of mine commissioned me to illustrate her family's 2010 Holiday Greeting Card. She provided me with photos of her two cats and one dog to work from.

Here is the process from original small sketch layout and more detailed sketch to inks to colors:

The client and her husband are really excited about the illustration and how their girls were portrayed, which makes me happy because I gave each animal a character and attitude as they have fun together sledding in the snow.

New Greeting Card: Calico Cat

I will premiere a new greeting card design called "Calico Cat" at Handmade Mart this Sunday.

The cards are 5.25" square and come with either shimmering copper or shimmering chocolate 5.75" square envelopes. The inside greeting is, "Meow!"

Each card is handmade and completely individual and one-of-a-kind (with the print and paper cut-out spots), so come visit Curls Studio at tent #19 early to have your pick of the litter.
